Begleitbüro SOUP → Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof ↗︎
withBrasilien was the code name for a mock military installation near Lauffen am Neckar. During the Second World War, it was used to simulate a night-time image of Stuttgart for British bomber pilots and to induce them to drop their bombs. The artists' group Begleitbüro SOUP draws a connection between the mock installation as a dummy and, among other things, the model city of Brasília, which was realized as a modern utopia in the middle of the jungle. The social tensions that have accumulated there over the years raise general questions today about the discrepancy between urban utopia, modeling and reality. However, the neon sign here is not only meant to refer to a distant country and its capital, but to what is happening beyond and below this neon sign. BRASILIEN could be the code word for all attempts to imperceptibly replace a city with its dummy.
The installation can be visited continuously, expected until the end of the year.
