IGmA – Institute for Principles of Modern Architecture (Design and Theory) → Kunstverein Wagenhalle ↗︎
withThe short films by students and members of IGmA and of c/o now approximate Stuttgart through the lense of “determinate negation”, a concept conceived by one of the most famous children of the city: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. One of the pillars of critical thinking is the resistance to fixation, closure and reaction. If we want to plan an Anti-Stuttgart with Hegel´s ideas, the endeavour cannot be about fundamental rejection, but about critical, precise and poignant confrontation with that which exists. Being against is method of cognition as well as an aesthetic project. With this in mind we ask, if a positive project can be conceived out of a critique: Are there anti-spaces–and how would they look?
