Stuttgart has an island!

Excursion with Stadtlücken e.V.Neckarinsel Stuttgart ↗︎

Neckarinsel @ Stadtlücken, Martin Mannweiler

Easily accessible via the  Mercedesstraße  subway station, an idyllic urban island is centrally located between the B10, Rosenstein Castle,  Wilhelma, Hall of Fame and the  Leuze  mineral baths: the Neckar Island. However, as part of the shipping operation of the Neckar, the so-called Bad Cannstatt middle pier is an inaccessible gap of open space in the water.    That is about to change. On two long weekends in September,  everyone  is invited to discover the pier as a public island space for the first time–to lie in the sun, watch ships and look out over the water. In order to  collectively  explore the question of the role of the river in Stuttgart, various interventions and performances around the Neckar will also visit the island.    Pack your towels, inflate your dinghy and get your stand-up board out of the basement!
See you on the Neckar Island!

Entering the island subject to current pandemic rules, weather and opening hours permitting.
