Alona Rodeh looks at the role of public lighting in today's cities. Reacting on subjects of urban light pollution and over-exposure, in coordination with the Stuttgart21 construction site, the large floodlights of the major construction site in the area of the Schlosspark will be temporarily switched off between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on both weekends of the festival. In a performative way, turning off the lights expresses how this particular environment behaves with or without the glaring, artificial light at night. Alona Rodeh's work currently focuses on both public space and urban illumination. This year she conducted in-depth research on public lighting in Berlin. Working in various departments of the city government and with the help of researchers, she is exploring the history, present, and future of the city's general approach to lighting.

How does our environment behave without artificial light? Lights down low on the Stuttgart 21 construction site–on both weekends during the festival, the lights go out for one hour each. Best vantage point on the construction site: Uhlandshöhe near the youth hostel!
